8 steps to Live Longer And Healthier

8 steps to Live Longer And Healthier

Any time the American Heart Association publishes new guidelines about how to live a longer, healthier life, I sit up and take notice.
Admittedly, it hasn’t always been that way. I will freely admit that I didn’t take my health as seriously as I should have. I justified a lot of things away. “I still look pretty good” I would say to myself, looking at myself in the mirror, knowing full well I didn’t.
Of course, it was a slow change. I got heavier over a long period and that led to less exercise. More stress piled on top of that. And we all know where this story went.
So, a week or so ago, the AHA published a list of eight things you can do to live a longer and happier life. Most of these things are common sense. But they are good reminders anyway.
8 steps to Live Longer And Healthier

1. Know your risk.

Smoking, kidney disease or a family history of early heart disease can increase your risk.

2. Eat a healthy diet.

Eat vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, plant-based proteins, lean animal proteins and fish. Avoid processed foods and cut back on sodium. A great example of this is the Mediterranean diet. It was recently rated #1 by U.S. News and World Report.

3. Be physically active.

Get 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise each week. Get up and move.

4. Watch your weight.

If you need to lose, start by eating fewer calories and moving more. For most of us, it really is that simple – and difficult at the same time.

5. Live tobacco-free.

6. Manage conditions. If you have high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, high blood sugar, diabetes or other conditions that put you at greater risk, work with your doctor and make lifestyle changes.

7. Take your medicine.

Be a team player. Work with your doctors, nurses and the rest of the team to create a health plan for you.
I’m not holding myself up as a paragon of virtue with this stuff. Frankly, I need these reminders on a regular basis. And I see the scar in the center of my chest every day. I would much rather you not have to deal with this at all. Follow the eight steps above and maybe you won’t.

Importance and Benefits of tea in Healthy Life

Genuine TEA  Genuine tea originates from the Camellia sinensis plant and from no other. Chamomile and yerba mate are stupendous for your wellbeing, however, they are not, actually, tea yet rather natural imbuements. They originate from various plants that have diverse sciences.
